How cryptic is that post title huh? It’s probably not what you think.
For the last year, I’ve been struggling to make this freelance thing work while keeping up with the comic I love. You guys have noticed. Missed deadlines, changes in direction, more missed deadlines and an eventual schedule change to two days a week… which I still missed a couple deadlines on. Piled on top of that, I’ve had this other idea (actually, more than one) that’s been eating at me. It’s like an itch I need to scratch. Shattered Myth was the project that got me off my arse and back into the game. But due to my schedule, I haven’t really been improving much lately. I need to push myself to get better and I can’t do that when my main focus is “just get the thing done”.
However, you guys are all awesome and you deserve better than I can give (we’re not breaking up, I swear). I love Shattered Myth and I love this world I’ve created. Book Three will be out in a couple months. I’m attending some cons next year. Basically, I want it to continue and I’ve left you guys hanging far too often lately. So I’m announcing Shattered Myth: Spotlight.
I’ve gone out and tapped some of my favorite tweeps and fellow comickers to take over Shattered Myth for me. For a year. That’s right. A FULL YEAR. While I work on said other projects, this team will be handling a God or two themselves, three updates a week, one month at a time. Some will be handling art duties. Others will be taking care of plotting and writing. While some will be taking care of everything themselves. But they’re all gonna be awesome. I’ve selected a wide variety of looks and I think you guys are in for a treat. They’re a great group of creators. Some of which I’ve worked with on Notes, others I met on 30 characters last year and some are just great comickers of whom I’m a fan. I don’t have a schedule of who’s comics go up when. I’m taking ‘em as I get ‘em. The Spotlight project will start as soon as the current storyline finishes. Which should be by the End of November. Here’s the rundown on everyone involved.
• Rolando Garcia – @roshow of Roshow.net will be scripting for Dakuwaqa while I will be providing the art.
• Eric White – @geekywhiteguy of geekywhiteguy.com will be co-writing (with Rolando Garcia) and Illustrating an adventure starring Hermes.
• Jonathan Macfarlane – @j_macfarlane of failurewhale.com is writing and illustrating a tale of Anubis.
• Stef – @sarah_zero of Sarah Zero will be handling the previously untouched Hecate with a script from me.
• Gary Lister – @listerart of listerart.com is crafting a story featuring Mythoscape MVP, Ishtar.
• Jonathan Rector – @artbyjar of The Standard, Hero Code and jonathanrector.com is bringing the “action” with Thor.
• Lonnie Easterling – @spudcomics of Spud Comics is on board and has decided on Vulcan (with a totally new design!)
• Dan Monroe – @dragonbrush of Ye Gawds! and countless children’s books is taking on Kali.
• Corey Kramer – @coreyremark of Remedy and Wonder Weenies will be working on Thoth, with a loose plot I provided.
• Elizabeth Staley – @adrastuscomic of Adrastus has also committed to helping out and she has now selected the Mythoscape’s resident Fanboy Geek, Marduk.
• CDowd – @charlesdowd of Lilith Dark and CDowd.com is continuing the tale he started in Book One starring our super under-used bad guys, the Shattered.
• The last spot, I’ve left open on the off chance that one of those “Maybe” creators I invited will decide to jump on board.
Now, I won’t be disappearing or anything. I’ll be around, posting some stuff here and there, drawing the Dakuwaqa story & promoting the crap outta these awesome creators! Remember, I’m going to finish the current story arc before anyone takes over. This has been in the works for a while now and I just couldn’t keep the secret any longer!
